Dr Agnieszka Bugaj-Nawrocka

She is a zoologist, specializing in entomology, assistant professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice. In her research work, she focuses on biodiversity analysis and species distribution models, using open data. She also conducts didactic classes, during which she teaches students the practical use of research data and scientific repositories.
As a graduate of the first Polish edition of the School of Data Stewards, since 2023 she has been a data steward at the University of Silesia, responsible for research data management, its quality and compliance with the principles of open science. This role includes activities at the interface of science, technology and administration, and supporting access to data for the academic community. She is also a Data Manager in the Polish Node GBIF consortium, supporting the development of biodiversity data infrastructure in Poland.
She graduated in biology from the University of Silesia in Katowice, as well as postgraduate studies related to medical data analysis, which is reflected in her interdisciplinary approach to working with scientific data.
