WELCOME TO EOSS: EUROPEAN OPEN SCIENCE SCHOOL
The European Open Science School (EOSS) is a training initiative developed at the University of Silesia in Katowice, aiming to support the transformation towards the development of digital science based on openness, transparency, and responsible management of research data. The School’s activities are based on respect for the international FAIR and CARE standards, legal principles, and research ethics, as well as promoting high standards of security and sovereignty of research data.
The School responds to the growing demand for competencies related to science based on digital resources, including research data, national and European research infrastructures, data ecosystems, and digital research workflows. The growing role of artificial intelligence in scientific research further accelerates these changes and increases the need for new skills. Consequently, the development of modern science requires university staff — scientists, technical staff, and the administration supporting the research process — to systematically raise the awareness, knowledge, and competencies necessary to conduct research in a modern, digital scientific environment.
