Dr Marcin Wichorowski
Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences
He is currently the Head of Data and IT Infrastructure Management at the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and represents Poland in UNESCO/IOC-IODE. As an expert in oceanographic data, he is actively involved in the international ocean data community through participation in initiatives such as ICES, BOOS and the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS).
He has organized international scientific conferences, including the first UNESCO Ocean Data Conference, which is one of the events of the Decade of Oceanography for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) announced by the United Nations. She conducts workshops and thematic sessions on oceanographic data management and open access to data.
With his expertise in data engineering and project management, he leads projects in the field of data management, especially in the field of development of information and oceanographic data management systems, contributing to the development of interoperability, availability and integration of data in the scientific community. He is the project manager of the Electronic Centre for Oceanographic Data Sharing.
